We went to our new church yesterday. Everyone in the ward was so kind and welcoming. Sam loved nursery and instantly made new friends.
So far my pros and cons of Carson City are...
PROS:
- Clean air, no pollution or smog
- My asthma is better here
- Hardly any bugs
- No traffic, anywhere
- It's small, so everything is close by
- We have only used a 1/2 tank of gas since we have been here
- It only takes Nic 5 minutes to drive to work, or 15 minutes on the bus
- The ward members have been so helpful, kind, and welcoming
- We have good neighbors and a good neighborhood
- There's only 1 High School and everyone supports it
- And our house is my favorite part about living here
CONS:
- It's small, there is no where to shop (no Ross, no Kid to Kid, no cute boutiques, no bakeries, no charming stores, no mall)
- There are no cute/fun restaurants to try (the economy has been really hard to this city)
- Everything seems & looks run down
- It's not a very family friendly place
- Not a lot of classy looking people
- No greenery, just sagebrush and desert ambiance
- And obviously it is far away from all of our friends and family

Pros where I live:
I love it
Cons:
My family keeps leaving! ;)
There is a Ross! It's on the south end of town - by Target. Let me know if I can help you find anything here - I've been the new girl before & I definitely didn't love it. But ow I'm the old girl & can tell you where to find *anything* (even a yummy bakery & great little mom & pop shops!!)
...and totally know what you mean about the lack of greenery. My husband & I call it 'Nevada green' - and it's just about the ugliest shade of green you'll ever see! LOL Bu tit grows on you.
Yeah but look how cute Sam is! :)
I am laughing so hard at the "no classy looking people" comment! I was just thinking that today too! I am sorry we haven't been very good neighbors! I swear when our house gets put back together we are going to hang out LOTS more! I know its hard to move, but I am so glad you are here!!
