Cake Decorating Class

First complete cake:
Last weeks cupcakes:

I have to say that I am LOVING this class. Tonight was the end of the first course, which was four weeks. I just signed up for the second session and I am excited to learn even more. I love the chance that I have to learn a new skill, I love the chance that I have to meet a new friends, and I think Nic and Sam seem to really be bonding while I am gone one night a week.

My Dream Come True

I few days ago I heard a woman say that when we grow up we realize that dreams don't really come true. I think my jaw dropped in disbelief to think that someone would really feel that way. Maybe our dreams don't come true in the fact that we aren't actual princesses living in castles, but I want to write today about my literal dream come true, Nic.

Today is my husband's 28th Birthday (does that sound old to anyone else?). I still can not believe that he is real. I thank my Heavenly Father everyday that he has allowed me the opportunity to live with Nic forever. Nic is the very man that I hoped I would one day find. Among a million wonderful qualities, my favorite are:
  • His hard work ethic
  • His intelligent mind
  • Tall, Dark and Handsome...need I say more?
  • His love of sports, especially wrestling and football
  • His never ending patience and kindness
  • His love of the Lord and his commitment to serving everybody
  • He is the best Dad to Samantha
  • His happy attitude & outlook on life, he is literally happy everyday!
I love this man more than can ever express. I will forever feel indebted to my best friend for setting me up with him, she has changed my life forever.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY NIC, I LOVE YOU!

Family Updates

I just wanted to give some updates on the fam now that we are into the swing of things with the new school year started.

I'll start with Nic. He is in his final year of law school (YAHOO). He is really liking his classes, especially his criminal clinic. He has the opportunity to actually try cases under the supervision of an attorney so he is really excited. Nic is huge Utah Football fan and is loving going to all of the games, coaches shows, Ute Walks, Tailgates, etc. It something he loves sharing with his brothers (and us) and I love how excited he is about football season!

For years I have wanted to take one of the Wilton Cake Decorating classes and I finally signed up for one last month. I have had two weeks of classes and I LOVE it so much. Decorating cakes is a lot harder than it looks in my opinion, but I hope I can get really good at it!
Far from perfect looking, but I am working on it!

Onto our darling Samantha. What a character she is! She is 15 months old now and is literally doing something new everyday. Her words are getting clearer and she continues to add words to her vocabulary everyday. She cracks me up with all of the places she likes to sit...

State Fair 2010

Is there anything better than a night at the State Fair? Going to the fair is one of my favorite things to do and this year had to be the best time we have ever been.
Sam LOVED all of the animals.
Sam and Uncle David going through the kids barns where she got to feed animals and plant seeds.
Nic, Heath, and kids going down the big yellow slide.
The whole Brown family, it's kind of a tradition now that we all go on the same night--SO much fun!
My super strong hubby!!
If you know my older sister, you know that she is good at anything that she does. We have been telling her for years that she should enter something in the fair. She did this year....and of course she placed 2nd! We are so proud of her!
The rodeo was AWESOME!
What could make this night any better you ask? Hearing Boyz II Men in concert! Oh the memories...I love them!
Can't wait until next year!

A great quote for mothers...

"During the years that our homes are filled with little children, it's easy to feel that we aren't personally going anywhere. It's all we can do to maintain the balance of our lives. If we heap upon ourselves a lot of guilt about what we should be doing--running, studying, serving others, taking classes-- we can be debilitated.

If at the end of the day, you have not accomplished one single thing that seems permanent, if you have spent yourself rocking babies and wiping off countertops and changing sheets again, let me assure you that something truly wonderful is happening. Not only are your children growing and developing by invisible degrees, but you yourself are becoming a saint. I really mean that. Raising little children is selfless and sanctifying. You are developing the attributes of godliness--patience, long-suffering, temperance, brotherly kindness, charity--the very things we're on this earth to learn."

I finally found...

The PERFECT water bottle! I have been looking at a bunch of water bottles lately trying to find one that had all of the features that I wanted. I know that sounds stupid, but if I find a bottle that I like it helps me to drink a lot more water. Anyway, we were shopping at the Kitchen Collection (which is an AWESOME store at the Park City Outlets) and I came across this:
  • It's looks cute and is a cute color!
  • It has a flip up top with a straw
  • It has a great bottom size that will fit in the cup holder on my stroller
  • It has great grip marks on both sides
  • It has a freezer stick, so you don't need any ice!
Best feature of all, it was only $5.99! The brand is Cool Gear Inc, and I am totally sold on it!
